Past President of Gilbert Rotary Club George Pettit has been awarded the Visionary Award by the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce as part of its 21st Annual Gilbert Community Excellence Awards.  The award is also presented by the Gilbert Public Schools, Higley Unified School District, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the Town of Gilbert and The Gilbert Republic.  Sponsored by APS and Dignity Health, among others, this formal evening, held on November 3, 2016, was filled with celebration as attendees honored those in the community who have excelled in the areas of business, education and community involvement.   George is currently Professor of Practice in The School Of Public Affairs at Arizona State University, after serving the Town of Gilbert for twenty-five years.  He is a member of the International City County Management Association, Arizona City County Management Association Life Member, and Rotary International.  Also awarded were Tracey Groy for “Spirit of Business,” and Dr. Christina Kishimoto for “Leon Uhlhorn Chairman’s Award.”  Dr. Kishimoto is Superintendent of the Gilbert Public Schools.  Congratulations to all recipients, but most especially our own George Pettit!
