It so  happened today was December 1 and we, as Gilbert Rotarians, started the Holiday season with an event we all look forward to each year – the Annual Holiday Breakfast for Seniors at the Gilbert Community Center. A smaller than usual crowd was on hand despite the chilly morning but there were many regulars whose faces we have grown to know from 30 years of doing this community service project. On hand to provide holiday entertainment were the Strolling Strings from Campo Verde High School under the direction of Crystal Payne. They provided delightful entertainment, taking us all on quite a journey, opening with a march, to My Wild Irish Rose and then a piece from Moscow. They followed up with a great rendition of holiday favorites… Still/ The First Noel, a Holiday Ho-down Compilation and Frosty the Snowman.  The Senior Citizens commented about how grateful they were for this breakfast and they hope we will always do this event. They loved the strings and many took Director Chrystal up on her invitation to CVHS Holiday Orchestra Concert on December 13.  President Rex closed out the morning with thanking the Kitchen Staff, presenting representatives from Chandler Christian Community Center with a donation to the Gilbert Senior Christmas evening party and also with a donation to the Campo Verde Strolling Strings. Thank you all so very much. A festive atmosphere prevailed and it was an awesome way to get in the spirit of the season at sunrise on December 1.

Next week we are back for our regular meeting at the Egg I Am at 7 AM on Thursday December 8.
