July 1  2018 started the New Rotary Year, or as some prefer to call it, the “changing of the guard” at Rotary International and all Rotary Clubs throughout the world. The International President changes, the Board of Directors changes the District Governor Changes and Club Administrations change as well. RI President Barry Rassin has chosen the theme for 2018-19 as “Be the Inspiration”.

Jim Erickson from Superstition Mountain Rotary assumes the position of 2018-19 District Governor. His priorities for the year are Polio eradication and increasing membership.

Scott Jones assumes the position of President of Gilbert Rotary. With a succession plan in place for some time, he has had the opportunity to be mentored in his position for a few years. We have no doubt Scott will keep the Gilbert Rotary ship aright for the next year…adding some new initiatives for public visibility of Gilbert Rotary as well as getting to know our fellow members a bit better. Scott welcomes  two new members from Mesa East which dissolved its membership June 29th. The future is bright.

2018-19 has begun. We are excited to see what the “new year ” brings. Please join us at our regular meetings on Thursdays at the Egg I Am on the corner of Queen Creek and Higley Road where there is always breakfast, coffee and great conversation and the chance to see what our small but mighty club offers.

Happy New Year everyone.
