As President-Elect Ian Riseley was being introduced to the Arizona Tri-District PETS Conference on February 25th, the 1968 Mason Williams hit  “Classical Gas” was blaring throughout the ballroom.  Mr. Riseley wondered if there was a hidden message in that choice of music!  He and his wife are on a world-wide tour of Rotary PETS to bring the 2017-18 theme “Making A Difference.”  Ian explained that Rotary’s lasting and meaningful difference is made both to the world and to ourselves as Rotarians, who are changed by the work we do for others.  He encouraged us to “be efficient with things, effective with people” in our Rotary dealings.   Among his goals, each Rotary Club is asked to plant a tree for each of its members some time between July 1, 2017 and Earth Day, April 22, 2018.  As an accountant, he also asks that each club keep track of the time and money spent in service to others this year.  “It should be a truly astounding number,” he declared.
