The Board and committee chairs enjoyed dinner and some reporting the evening of Wednesday October 19 with DG Tonya Watson. Yesterday (Thursday October 20,2016) gave her official address to the club members at our regular meeting. Every year, the sitting DG must make a personal visit to all clubs in his/her district and file a report. It gives them a change to meet personally with all members and hear what they are doing, offer encouragement, be a cheerleader and also offer the services of the District team in any way possible. Notable accomplishments include:

  • A branding system with logo, website, table cover and banner;
  • The International grant for the Navajo Water Project;
  • Gilbert Senior breakfast for the Holidays;
  • Dictionary delivery to 27 schools;
  • Paz de Cristo meal preparation and service;
  • Bowling Fundraiser,
  • Social Events – 4th Thursday meeting cultivation gatherings;
  • Reaching for the Stars;
  • District Grant with Tri-Sigma for needs for Phoenix Children’s Hospital wing at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center;
  • Youth Exchange student Emili Kato;
  • High School scholarship for GHS senior;
  • two Interact Clubs (Gilbert High and Perry High);
  • Supporting the Bisbee Rotary Christmas Across the Border with blankets and jackets; and an
  • Impressive gain in membership.

We have much to celebrate, much to be thankful for and much to be proud of….
