SUMMER 2021

Members of the Gilbert Rotary Club are volunteering their time, Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for six weeks to assist in the L.E.A.P. program at B&GC of Gilbert Arizona.

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the nature of the previously evident achievement gap and has exacerbated the existing inequities in education. This has greatly impacted students' academic performance, influences of positive youth development and social emotional support and youth learning.

Through the LEAP program, members will Learn, Engage, Achieve and Progress.

DECEMBER 2020

Gilbert Rotary Club assisted the Boys & Girls Club in Gilbert to serve Thanksgiving dinner to nearly 100 children (and some parents) at the holiday party on December 3rd. A turkey dinner with pumpkin pie was provided by local restaurants. Safety protocols were strictly followed and a good time was had by all. The pie was everybody's favorite. Our club has looked for ways to assist the Boys & Girls Club carry out its mission in Gilbert since both were founded in the early 1980's. The kids were well-behaved and seemed relaxed and at home at their club.

OCTOBER 2020

Gilbert Rotary Club has a special relationship with Boys & Girls Clubs, especially the Gilbert branch location at Elliot and Oak Street. When B&GC of the Valley has a fund-raiser, we will lend a hand, as we did for the Building Great Futures Golf Tournament at Whirlwind Golf Club on October 9th. Thanks Jean, Mark and Curt for hosting the putting contest. It was a nearly impossible downhill 40' putt, but three golfers sank it! Great cause, beautiful weather and lots of fun.

Over 100 golfers took their chances on a lightning fast down hill putt on the practice green at Whirlwind Golf Course.  Three golfers made the putt!  Many others were very close.  The top five finishers, either making the putt or being within 15" of the cup, were included in a drawing for $1,000.
